So if you haven't done so already, perhaps try my steps below. Is there a way to get to the restore partition before the computer boots? I thought I was alone with this problem since Sony claimed they had never heard of it. If not installed then thatz the problem. So, after some time, it began to get worst, going ballistic in my screen, hitting buttons i didn't press. It is the worst experience I have had with a laptop. When I first experienced this problem, I contacted Sony and the told me it was not a hardware problem but a virus and I needed to reformat my hard drive to clean up the problem.
However, as I was not given an option for replacement, I returned the unit yet again. I got it to work! If you are able to log in Right click on start 1. I will be glad to assist you. From day one it was never right: the mouse would jump to different places in a line of text when typing. After restart, the leftclick and the touch tap work fine. Restarting computer however seems to fix the issue temporarily. Obviously, you'll need to use a mouse to carry out the above.
I really liked this laptop until I had to deal with support. They refused to send me a new one. The unit was returned to me with the problem supposedly corrected again and about a week later the exact same problem began once again. That does not work for either of these issues. This is what I did. You demand to be put through to someone Stateside and 90% of the time they tell you they can't or like yesterday they give you another number which directs you right back to the Philipines.
Everything is running ok but i have one problem. The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free downloadable security tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. Only buttons works is Fn+F5 and F6 witch is function for brightness. However now the system is recovering i am in the region and language section for which I need a keyboard and pad to select and go to next. Lucky i set the fingerprint reader, however one into the desktop screen ithere is no way to get to that setting screen mentioned in the article. May be it was not working due to some static electricity kind of some techinical issue must be involved in the troubleshoot action to restore the touchpad. Google it and the info you find basically says do not install Win10, your keyboard won't work.
The main cause of function keys not working is that you upgrade your Operating system to Windows 10 or maybe you accidentally delete the sony drivers. I was told if I reinstalled the operating system this should fix it and told that if it didn't they would send me a new one. It did not fix the problem and it came back in weeks. Islandpaul I have been a Mac user for some time and found them great but I needed a very light windows operating system for work. Hope this helps, if you have any further queries, feel free to post. Eventually I was outside the warranty period and then the Sony support help became rude and hostile and told me to return the laptop at my expense and they would look at it.
Hope this works for you! I also have a live winpe pendrive so I'll try that as well. Before I restored it to factory setting, there's once I found keyboard is working 30min or 1hour after I boot up the machine. Now it is plain dead. External mouses don't work either! About the mouse, i've tried a regular microsoft mouse and a friend of mine - with the same problem - uses a wireless one. A friend of mine has a Sony Vaio laptop less than 2 years old, not sure which model, but its an i7 with blu-ray drive, hdmi out etc.
At their suggestion, I installed Vista for Business using recommended procedures. Then, my cursor began to operate exactly opposite of the way it should. Within six months of purchasing it, I have already had to replace the touchpad twice. If not even the copy they restore doesn't make it work. After a few days, the cursor again began having the exact same problem.
After I had restarted, neither the keyboard nor the touchpad were working besides the backlight of the keyboard. Similarly follow the steps to update the touchpad. The keyboard and touch pad do not work how do I move on to fully recover? Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager. I thought I was alone with this problem since Sony claimed they had never heard of it. Now I have discovered this site and found I am not alone.
I have borrowed a usb keyboard which the laptop recognises to do the checks but it does not recognise the built in keyboard. I am asking at this time that I can return the unit to Sony and have a replacement unit sent to me without first requiring another attempt to repair this defective computer. But it did and I had to re do the whole hard drive, including formatting and re-installing the operating system. If there's none for W7 try Vista. I tried rebooting, removing the battery, blowing under the button in case some dirt got lodged there.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? Would I buy another Sony laptop - not on your life! I thought Vista can't crash. If you have these issues, this article is right for you. I will likely call Sony as well, but at the moment it seems like the temporary fix will be the external mouse. I hope it won't be disruptive to my workflow. Cheers, Radar Here's what i did.
