As always you should never spray anything into the intake manifold, as this can cause all the deposits to travel into the cylinders coating the spark plugs, possibly causing a cylinder misfire and worse. This was rather tedious and you have to be gentle. The Primary part that needs fixing is the Throttle plate body. I got tired of replacing stupid parts and takin my truck to local mechanics to try to fix the limp home mode, so i just took it to the dealer, at least the job will have warranty and would be well done. Let them air dry, get some dielectric silicone grease and put some where the terminals come into contact. If not sure, have the battery tested.
Common mistakes when diagnosing the P2111 code The diagnosis of this system can be confusing. Good luck Thanks again Torqued! Personally, I have mixed feelings about the advent of the electrically controlled throttle body. Can't fix what's not broke. But didn't want to spend that much money. Basically everything is saying the throttle is not closing to where it belongs according to the other sensors and that it is not synchronized with other moving parts.
Misdiagnosis occurs when this code is diagnosed when it is a stored code, especially while other codes are active. Is it correct the two should almost be mirrors of each other? What are the common causes of code P2111? Has all the symptoms of a bad throttle body to me. How serious is the P2111 code? Both track each other fairly well. P2111 trouble code definition Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Open What the P2111 code means In this case the code definition is fairly self explanatory. See if they look burned or have a green tint indicating corrosion.
Checked the connectors and wiring and everything seemed fine. If it spit out your number 6 plug you either didn't install it correctly or you have a larger mechanical issue. To begin, the technician should confirm the throttle plate is actually stuck open. Next, see if there are any other diagnostic fault codes. Hope it may help you understand why the error codes trip and the engine becomes useless. There are several that supposedly work with the 2005. Not sure what's with that, but I rarely drive with 60%+ throttle.
Checked the connectors and wiring and everything seemed fine. Each reading is about 300mS apart. I didn't see anything strange with the 3 accelerator sensor values--they tracked pretty consistently among each other. If it does not, then connection issues were most likely your problem. If there is only one certain component that hasn't completed its test, there are individual driving conditions to help those tests pass or fail if something is wrong. Often all three components are replaced as a single unit as they are integrated components in the throttle body. It deals with venting airflow.
I don't have the specs to correlate. There may be an update, or known fix put out by the manufacturer that can save you from wasting time and money. At the end of the day, I am really not to worried about my vehicle accelerating out of control as this is rare, but never the less, it is possible. . What repairs can fix the P2111 code? Many variables exist between our different scan facilities, but my Accel Pedal readings when I expand graphs out seems more stable. The closed throttle plate hard stop prevents the throttle from binding in the bore.
I have disconnected the battery to clear the codes and now it seems to be worse - truck actually 'failed' 5 times in the course of driving 20 miles. Rob I have a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer 4. Insure that the battery is fully charged and not weak. An internal spring is used in both designs to return the throttle plate to a default position. The motor housing is integrated into the main housing. Im thinking Throttle body needs replacing, as do some of my friends. It was tricky, but gently pulled the brushes back and put 600 grit sandpaper in front of them in a very tiny piece.
I commend your diagnostic mythology and persistence. But anyhow - I don't see anything strange in the second graph posted. If the problem reappears - then replace Accel Pedal rheostat. Things drop to zero at the far right when I shut the truck down. The closed throttle plate hard stop prevents the throttle from binding in the bore. I was able to continue to drive it for about 2 d. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
What are the symptoms of the P2111 code? First off let me say that I know this is beating a dead horse and I know that there are several other threads related to this - but I read until I went cross eyed and couldn't locate the answer that I am looking for. There's 105K on the truck if that makes any difference. Jan 30, 2011 Remove the throttle body and clean the carbon off the throttle plate being carefull not to harm any coating that may be applied from the manf. Hoping this may have been causing me some fuel mileage issues too, as I've noticed the overall mileage had dropped to 10. With that said, I do personally own a vehicle with an electrically controlled throttle system. The inline design has a separate motor housing. I am thinking the engine is getting too much air.
